Photo experimentation

During a recent photo session of works heading to Parnell Gallery — our representatives in Auckland — we began experimenting with long exposure photography.

What started as a technical exercise became something else entirely. With extended exposure, light stops being a backdrop and becomes a presence — framing the work, moving with it, amplifying it. The results were stunning.

This unexpected dialogue between sculpture and light has opened a door. We are now exploring the use of long exposure light as a creative element in its own right — a direction that may shape a future series of limited edition works.

Something is quietly emerging.

Playing with Scales.

In the studio, presence is everything.

It is why the MaTi series began at Ø 130 cm — large enough to command a space, to draw you in, to hold you. But presence is not purely a question of scale. The right work in the right space can carry the same weight, the same stillness, the same depth.

This is why we introduced a medium format version at Ø 100 cm. Smaller, but no less powerful — designed for spaces where the dialogue between the work and its surroundings asks for something more intimate.

Same presence. A different conversation.

Color base experimentation.

November 26, 2025.

Colour in MaTi is not decoration — it is atmosphere.

The series typically begins with a deep, calm blue as its base — a colour that holds its ground while allowing the light from the integrated LEDs to emerge and transform the visual experience. Grounding and expansive at the same time.

But nothing in the studio is fixed. Experimentation is at the core of everything we do, and colour is no exception.

The red base is a different proposition entirely — energetic, bold, unapologetically present. When red light meets a red surface in low light conditions, something intensifies. It becomes charged. Alive in a different way.
